I just thought I`d post this up to discuses about some continuity errors that span many of the episodes from “Lilo & Stitch: the series”.
This is something that I never stated in my review for the series. While the series is great and enjoyable, the order of the episodes suffer from a great deal of continuity errors, which involve certain events and locations of certain experiments taking place at a point where they should have either taken place before or after the events of certain episodes.
The episodes where not aired in the order of their production since the production order contained a number of continuity errors, some of which were luckily noticed and corrected in the air date order.
Some notable continuity errors from the production order include the “Poxy” episode being produced as Episode 1 and “Cannonball” being produced as Episode 4, while it`s obvious that “Cannonball” takes place before “Poxy” because Jumba`s X-Buggy was being used in “Poxy” but was unveiled by Jumba in “Cannonball” (this was corrected in the air date order). The “Angel” episode was produced as Episode 25 and “Slushy” was produced as Episode 27, “Slushy” obviously takes place before “Angel” because Slushy (The freezing experiment 523) was already activated and turned good in that episode, before Angel turns him evil again (corrected in the air date order). The episode “Yapper” was produced as Episode 8 and “Finder” was produced as Episode 30, “Finder” actually takes place long before “Yapper” because Mertle had never had a pet in “Finder” when she adopts Hamsterviel, but she`d already received Gigi sometime before “Yapper”. The episode “Sprout” was produced as Episode 11 and “Elastico” was produced as Episode 32. “Elastico” takes place before “Sprout” because the pine apple water tower that Stitch used to contain Sprout can be seen intact in “Elastico”, not far away from the circus.
It seems to me that during production the writers where getting so caught up in their ideas they were possibly forgetting that the events of some following episodes where already supposed to have taken place before some of the earlier ones.
Unfortunately however, other continuity errors where picked up in the air date order. Some notable ones from that order include “Melty” being aired as Episode 22, “Sinker” airing as Episode 24 and “Nosy” airing as Episode 25. Both “Sinker” and “Nosy” take place before “Melty” because Nani had already received her new job in “Melty”, then in “Sinker” she was still working at the rental hut and in “Nosy” she was fighting to secure her new job. Also the episode “Hunkahunka” which aired as Episode 32 takes place before “Nosy” because Keoni has a big crush on Pleakley in “Hunkahunka” which he mentions in “Nosy” that he only had for that one week.
It seems possible that when they were airing the episodes they were sometimes just coming up with ideas of what might have happened before or after certain episodes.
Also while “Spike” was produced and aired as the first episode of the second season it actually takes place after “Snafu” (the final episode) because Nosy (Experiment 199) and Fibber (Experiment 032) appear in “Spike”. Nosy and Fibber where among the experiments caught by Gantu and where held captive in Hamsterviel`s prison cell throughout the series, until Hamsterviel sent them back to Gantu in the episode “Glitch/Woops”, just before the final episode. Nosy escapes Gantu`s ship in that episode and Fibber is among the 17 other experiments who were rescued in the final episode.
Well that`s it for now. Despite these countless continuity errors, “Lilo & Stitch: the series” is still a great and enjoyable show.
